  1. The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, also known as World Drug Day, is annually observed on 26 June to promote global efforts in eliminating drug abuse and illegal trade. The theme of World Drug Day 2023 is “People first: Stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention”.
  2. The United Nations’ International Day in Support of Victims of Torture is annually observed on 26 June to commemorate the day in 1987 when the UN Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment came into force and to raise awareness that human torture is not only unacceptable, it is also a crime.
  3. World Refrigeration Day is annually observed across the world on 26 June to raise awareness and understanding of the important role that the refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat-pump industry and its technology in modern life. The theme of World Refrigeration Day 2023 is “Next Generation Cooling: The Future is in our hands”.
  4. During his official visit to Egypt, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was bestowed with the highest state honor of Egypt, known as the ‘Order of the Nile’.
  5. The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has successfully conducted a test flight for cloud seeding to help create conditions for rain which would help to combat dry conditions and air pollution.
